Sue Steel is a founder member, trustee and president of OSPREY and became involved in the field of osteoporosis in 1989, subsequently holding a key role in the development of the Centre for Metabolic Bone Disease on the Hull Royal Infirmary site.
As Consultant Physicist and Centre Coordinator, she provided scientific and technical leadership, management and development of the unit until 2008. She has published a number of research papers and presented results at conferences worldwide. She also worked with the team at the University of Hull, designing research studies associated with osteoporosis.
Following retirement she was elected to the East Riding Council and is a member of The East Riding Health and Well-being Overview and Scrutiny Committee. She continues to take an interest in the provision of local health services.
